Today’s Country Music Magazine | Drunk Thoughts

“You only get one chance to put out your very first single,” prophetically said Jenna LaMaster about her debut release, “Drunk Thoughts.”

And while this may be the troubadour’s first official release, she is certainly no stranger to Nashville’s music community. Her California bred Texas roots have brought a flare to her style that encompasses flashes of 80’s and 90’s country flavor within her unique aura, presenting a sought-after sound that has continually turned industry heads.

The song, co-written by Jenna, Lee Starr, and Whitney Duncan, leans into a simplistic, airy aura within the 1-2 acoustic strum of the melody, while tapping lyrically into the age-old adage that you reveal the most transparent truths after you’ve been drinking.

With a whispered softness in the tone of her voice, LaMaster evaluates where her life is at after another one of those types of nights, singing poetically through a wish list in the opening verse of who she should be versus who she is;  “I probably oughta be settled down by now,” “I wish I didn’t want another cigarette,” etc.
